Dos and Don'ts in Thailand

Dos :

Do respect HM the King and his family, They are highly respected and held in high esteem. Being disrespectful towards them in anyway is against the Thai law and can make you lots of trouble.

Be respectful about Buddhish. All Image of Buddha is regarded as sacred and should be treated as such.

Dress neatly. Personal appearance in Thailand is very important as a measure of respect to other people. Moreover, some places such as wats (buddhish temple), visitors are required to dress appropriately.

Take care your valuables and belongings at all times and do report any loss to tourist police or call 1155.

Bring enough funds for your holiday and return. International money transfers may take long time.

Traditional Thai greeting, Wai, Thai don't normally shake hand but placing palms together with your head bent slightly forward. However, for business, shake hand with foreigners is usual.

Drop your garbage into a waste container provided. Discards cigarette stubs, or drops rubbish in public areas are illegal and can be fined up to 2000 Baht.

Beware of unauthorised people who offer guides services. They may be tricksters.

Don'ts :

Point somebody or something using your feet. Thai consider feet as a bottomest and dirty part. doing that in Thailand is very rude.

Topless or nude bathing. they are not usual in Thailand.

Touch people on their head even children. Thais regard head is a highest past of body.

Shout in public. it's unusual in Thailand and that makes you look rediculous.

Carry someone's packages through Thai Customs. Actually, you should not do that in any country.

Buy precious stones on the street. don't do that if you don't know the real value. Even in the store, the price on the tag

Attend to any gambling place in Thailand. All kind of gamble in Thailand are illegal, Therefore, you should not visit those places.

For women, Don't touch Buddhish monks. Buddhish monks are not allowed to touch or be touched by women or accept anything directly from women.

Get involve in any way with drugs, Thailand has extremely strict drug laws. Penalties are very severe from years in prison to death.

Have sex with someone under the age of 18. Doing that is aginst the law. It is recognised such action as rape which result years in prison.

Support any manner of wild animal abuse. It's agianst the law. Fine may apply.

Stay beyond the date allowed in your passport, remember to reconfirm your flight.
