Wat Ratchburana, in Bangkok
Wat Ratchaburana, this tourist attraction is a Second Class Royal Temple, in Bangkok, Thailand. The temple is situated at the foot of the Rama I Memorial Bridge on the Bangkok side. This temple was constructed in the late Ayutthaya era by a Chinese merchant named Liap. At that time, the temple was called Wat Liap.When King Rama I was crowned, HSH Prince Thepharipitak renovated the temple as a Royal temple and renamed it as Wat Ratchaburana, which was the name of royal temple in the Sukhothai era.
Wat Ratchaburana is one of the 3 major temples of the capital which include Wat Ratchaburana, Wat Ratchapradit and Wat Mahathat. Wat Ratchaburana had been frequently renovated ever since the reign of King Rama I throughout to the reign of King Rama VII. During the World War II some of the temples buildings specially Phra Ubosot the ordination hall which accommodates mural paintings by Khrua In Khong, were badly damaged by bombing. The constructions were later repaired to their good condition as to be seen nowadays.
